Schemes of the Devil : The Five Lies
Sometime between the creation of our world and its human occupation, there was already evil. The prophets tell us that heaven was full of angels praising God. Of all of the angels that God created, the most powerful, most beautiful of them all was Lucifer who worked in the Throne Room in the Kingdom of God. He became jealous of the power of God and convinced one third of the angels to follow him instead of God. The original, first sin was committed by Satan in heaven. Our God is a jealous God and He will not allow others to receive the worship that He deserves. Because of that fact Satan and his cronies were forcibly kicked out of heaven. Without fail since that day he has been trying to capture the attention that belongs to God.
The biggest advantage that we have in spiritual warfare is that we know how Satan fights. We know his rulebook. Just like military counter intelligence or watching tapes of the next opponent in a locker room, we can recognize and defend against his attacks when we know what to look for. The greatest news of all is that there are ONLY five lies that Satan tells. I mean, there are five lies that can appear in many flavors. Knowing his tricks lead to his demise. So, what are those five lies?
1. Jesus is fully man, but is not God. This is Satan's first lie because it's the most important. If he can convince us that Jesus is not God then he has convinced us
that He is a liar. If Jesus was a liar then none of what He said is any more relevant or important than me telling you what color my fish is.
2. If we fail to believe the first lie, Satan tries to convince us that we, as sinners, do not have any type of relationship with God. Why would He allow such a
relationship with people who are so evil? We can't possibly have earned a lace in Paradise.
3. Next Satan tells us that we have no purpose in this life. Even if God had a purpose for you, you have fallen so far away from it that there is no way to get back
toward it.
4. Convincing you that God probably doesn't even hear your prayers and if He had He certainly isn't answering them.
5. Finally, the final lie in Satans bag of tricks is to tell us that we are not saved. That we are deteriorating in our sickness and monetary problems. There is no victory or triumph for us; only defeat. You aren't saved so why not live life that way to the fullest?
They are terrible lies that far to many people believe and suffer the consequences of that choice. The love, grace and mercy of God gives all of the protection and weapons we will ever need. And no worries, because God is the ultimate provider. His Full Armor is what we need.
