The Full Armor of God
Battle Gear - Ephesians 6:10-17
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Do you really need them all?
ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!
Your adversary, the devil, is roaming about seeking people who will listen to his lies. Paul writes of the full armor of God being able to keep the enemy at bay. With each piece of armor perfectly created to defend one type of lie. Because of that, it's critical to understand what each defends.
Belt of Truth ~ The Identity of Christ Revealed in You
Through some fact twisting, Satan tries to get us to believe that Jesus was just a man. But the Bible says differently. The Bible
tells us the truth. Jesus was fully man and fully God. Reminding the devil that the Son of God will throw the devil in the lake
of fire usually scares him off for a while. But, why a belt? That hardly seems like armor. It isn't really but rather still very
essential. With the breastplate on, your shield on your hip and sword in it's sheath, it is the belt that keeps everything where
it is supposed to be. The Truth is essential to every other piece because if what you see, hear and believe is not from the
Father of Truth then it must, by definition, be from the father of lies. It is through the truth of Christ that our identity comes
from; the Lord of Lords, King of Kings. Do not accept any doubts or lies that attempt to eliminate Christ's' deity.
Breastplate of Righteousness ~ Your Identity in Christ
Satan tells us that we are worthless; a worm. God is fed up with us and our sins. The Bible tells us that He who knew no sin,
became sin for me that I may be made righteous. You are a new creation with old things passed away and all things made new.
On the cross, Jesus completed the 'Divine Exchange'. In it Christ took our punishment, sickness, pain, sin, death, poverty,
shame, rejection and the curse. In exchange He gives us His remission of sins, healing and health, righteousness, life,
abundance, acceptance and His blessing.
Shoes of the Readiness of the Gospel of Peace ~ Your Purpose
If you have ever felt that God has no purpose for you or for your life then you have believed Satan's third lie. The truth is that
Jesus sent us into the world to share the gospel. That doesn't have to be in Micronesia or in the Amazon valley. It can be in
your city, your neighborhood, your living room. We are supposed to be the salt and light of the world. Salt?? Are you salty?
Historically, salt has served two main functions; to season and to preserve. That is our mission. We are supposed to add
some seasoning into what could otherwise be a very tough world. We are to preserve the Earth by spreading the Good News
to non believers. For that, you better have the right footwear.
Shield of Faith ~ Your Effectual Fervent Prayers
If Satan can convince you that God doesn't listen to or answer prayers then he has been able to discount a huge part of the
Christian faith. Jesus says that if you believe in your heart that what you ask for in prayers are yours, they will be. This is
huge because it gives us the ability to command Satan and problems out of our lives. Remember, if God wanted you to have
problems in your life, He wouldn't have told us how to get rid of them.
Helmet of Salvation ~ Your Full Redemption
When our health fails or we run into financial problems or psychological issues Satan is right there to tell us that there is no
victory in us, only defeat. It's easy to believe that when we encounter challenges that we are forgotten. But God says that we
may have life and an abundant life at that. Jesus Christ is our savior, healer, deliverer, rescuer and provider. Redemption of
your body, spirit and soul is yours through Him.
