Genesis 12-15
There have been very few in history whom God called "friend." When we come across those people in the Bible it is wise to follow the example of their lfe. Afterall, who would want to be thought of as anything other than Gods friend.
Abraham was one such man; walking and talking with God regularly. Sure, he had his share of famous slip ups, but God still called him friend. What can we learn from Abraham's life and the characteristics of a friend of the Almighty? There are many, many things. In this passage we find a big one.
At one point Abraham refers to God as the provider. But years later we already see that understanding of who God is in the life of Abraham. He undertands that all things belong to God; not man. He allows us to be stewarts of His belongings and the more we trust Him with His possessions the more He provides. In chapter 14, we find God handing Abrahams enemies over to him. After the battles end it is clear that God defeated those armies. So, what does he do? Immediately, he gives a tithe to the Lord.
In Malichi God says that we may test the Lord. That when we give God opens the windows of heaven and pours us out a blessing. But Abraham understood this 3,000 years before. Abraham was offered treasure but he declined to accept it. Abraham saw that the things from God after a tithe are better than any money or plunder that we can ever get from man. Believing for a miracle, after his tithe, God was faithful as He always is and promised Abraham to have many, many descendents.
One of the keys to get a miracle is to give. What miracles do you need and how can we get it. The first step is to give. What can you do, what can you give, what things might be in the way of your own miracle?
